Biological Science Laboratory Technician
USDA Agricultural Research Service is currently recruiting for an Biological Science Laboratory Technician at U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center : USDA ARS in Madison, WI.


Duties: 

  • Organizes, curates, or creates datasheets using statistical software and spreadsheets.
  • Devises and tests new research technologies and experimental methods.
  • Conducts detailed operations to care for plants in the field, greenhouse, or growth chamber.
  • Organizes and curates seeds, plant tissue, DNA or other sample collections.
  • Participates as a team member with the scientist in all phases of the research process and assumes full technical and operational responsibility for specific phases of the research.
  • Independently develops or designs various aspects of research projects on the basis of overall objectives outlined by the supervisor.


Qualifications: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience includes experience participating in a research project; and maintaining basic equipment and automated systems used for test or evaluation procedures.
OR
Education: Successful completion of one full year of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related. Related degrees may include Agronomy, Biology, Plant Biology, Agricultural Science, Genetics, Environmental Science.
OR
A combination of graduate level education and experience as described above.
