Data Analyst II, Health Informatics
Job Description
We are seeking a Data Analyst II role to provide analytic technical skill, including developing databases, and extracting, formatting, and performing advanced analysis of health information to fulfill data requests. The Data Analyst II will support Health Informatics to achieve high quality health information systems, recommending and implementing strategies to improve the quality of incoming and outgoing data. The role will collaborate with Health Informatics leadership to develop information interoperability and update standard operating procedures for internal and external data access and use.
This role will interface with all brands, medical teams onboard, shoreside health services and public health leaders as well as external vendors that manage our healthcare systems. Carnival Corporation is comprised of nine brands with approximately 95 ships carrying over 12 million guests annually and employing over 100,000 team members.
Essential Functions
- Designs workflows and processes for health information management
- Develops robust processes and structure to measure outcomes of implemented protocols and pilot projects
- Stores information in appropriate format and in compliance with privacy and data storage regulations
- Identifies, assesses, and plans to incorporate data from available sources to improve record completeness and accuracy
- Supports the adoption of automated information systems to accommodate complex business needs
- Participates in ongoing information system application testing, implementation, and evaluation with stakeholders
- Builds and maintains healthcare databases
- Combines data from various sources
- Ensures that patient health information, such as medical history, are integrated, accessible, accurate and secure
- Oversee and develops accessible reports and dashboards
- Uses information systems and other data sources in collaboration with Health Services programs and other internal stakeholders to assist in the evaluation of health programs and population-based outcome measures
- Conducts data modelling using advanced statistical techniques and tools to support data-driven solutions that improve health
- Provides or arranges for technical and programmatic support for systems users
- Routinely audit and validate data
- Less than 25% with shipboard travel likely
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in computer science, informatics, public health, epidemiology, or related field. Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated analytic experience
- Experience in health informatics, healthcare, epidemiology, computer science, public health, or electronic health records preferred
- Expertise with Power Platform Development, including PowerApps, PowerBI, and Power Automate
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++
- Prior experience with electronic health records (EHR) and health information systems
- Prior experience in a healthcare or public health setting with health informatics responsibilities that include conducting and/or supporting informatics projects
- Ability to interpret complex health information and data sets to offer insight on business decisions
- Strategies for achieving effective data acquisition, management, quality, storage, use, and application to address population health
- Database and data warehouse development, use, and management
- Experience in interpretation and strategic utilization of qualitative and quantitative data from multiple sources of information
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software
- Experience with Power Platform development, including PowerApps, PowerBI, and Power Automate
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Organizational skills demonstrating high attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within a dynamic team
- Ability to solve complex data quality issues requiring collaboration among multiple internal and external partners
- Ability to prepare, present and train on complex technical material to technical and non-technical partners
- Electronic Health Record systems SeaCare ® preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, statistical software SQL query tool, Power Platform tools such as PowerApps, PowerBI, and Power Automate
- Experience with SharePoint development, including API’s. Understanding of wider Microsoft 365 Technology Stack
- Microsoft certifications PL-200, PL-300, and PL-600 preferred
The range for this role’s base salary is $70,000 - $95,000. Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
