PART 1: Professional Development
First-generation students can benefit from customized career planning and professional development while preparing to enter the workforce. Preparation through skill development and job experience can be fostered by joining The Future Ready Student: Connecting STEM First Generation Women to Industry Experiential Learning Program. Learning how to master your LinkedIn profile, market yourself or network in a professional setting can make you stand out as a candidate. Students will attend valuable professional development sessions through weekly workshops and will be connected to Stony Brook University faculty, staff and industry representatives throughout the program.

Internships offer students the opportunity of gaining practical work experience in diverse settings, while allowing students to start building a professional network outside of school.
