Creative Technology Summer Camp Assistant (Internship Available)

Are you interested in working with youth? UW-Parkside Professional and Continuing Education is hiring student assistants to aid in fun technology-based youth summer camps! Assistant will support the lead instructor in providing classroom instruction for various types of digital arts and basic coding programs. Full and paid training is provided. This position has the potential to be offered as an internship for the right student, particularly if the student is interested in earning academic credit for their internship.

 

Ideal candidates possess strong communication skills and have the ability to learn technology-based programs. Online and flexible training and course materials will be provided prior to the start of camp. A solid understanding of the course concepts, as well as the techniques and software being used, must be learned prior to the start of each camp. This position will assist the lead instructor with classroom management, maintaining the equipment, enforcing site policies, and helping campers to achieve the learning objectives for each of the activities. 

 

Training time for all programs is paid and is required to be completed by July 8, 2024. Training is flexible and online. 

 

We will be seeking two assistants for this upcoming slate of summer camps, a morning assistant from 8:30 am-12:30 pm and an afternoon assistant from 12:30 pm-4:30 pm, or one full-time student. We are seeking enthusiastic college students from all backgrounds and majors to assist with instruction on the following topics: 

 

Morning Sessions (7/15-7/19, 7/22-7/26, 7/29-8/2)

  • Beats and Jams: Digital Music Creators
  • YouTube Content Creators 
  • Minecraft Redstone Engineers

 

Afternoon Sessions (7/15-7/19, 7/22-7/26, 7/29-8/2)

  • Esports Apprentice: Streamers and Gamers
  • A.I. Adventures – Intro to Machine Learning
  • Model United Nations

Qualifications: College Students with strong communication skills and an aptitude to learn fun technology- based programs (All majors and education content areas will be considered.)

 

Training:

Each new hire will attend a flexible, online training program to learn the curriculum and meet compliance standards for working with youth. Training time is paid and is to be completed by July 8, 2024.
