GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Burmese American Community Institute (BACI) is a dynamic, forward focused and growing organization.
We seek well-qualified, highly motivated, creative, and solution-oriented candidates to join our team at The Civic
and Cultural Education Program (CCEP).
The CCEP provides English and citizenship classes in addition to one-on-one naturalization assistance. The
programs are conducted in collaboration with community partners and seek to improve newly arriving refugees’
ability to navigate complicated US systems needed to obtain citizenship.
The Citizenship Case Management (CM) assists CCEP clients with the process of applying for U.S. citizenship or
Green Cards on a personalized basis. The CM also participates in and assist coordination of the CCEP by working
closely with Program’s staff attorney and other case-managers in order to support coordination of outreach and
services, overseeing quality assurance, and preparing pertinent data and narrative reports. The CM works with the
program staff members and partners to oversee and track project expenditures; file cases; maintain the project’s
financial records; and monitor grants, donations, and in-kind goods and services received.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
 Provide one-on-one naturalization application assistance, helping Legal Permanent Residents (LPR) with
preparing and submitting forms such as N-400, G-28, I-485, I-912 and others USCIS forms.
 Perform individual case-management effectively, facilitate client intake and appointments, keep track of
individual case progress, and conduct follow up on the applicants in a timely manner.
 Help program staff coordinate community outreach, education, and media activities; make public
presentations on Civic and Culture Education classes and other CCEP projects.
 Oversee successful completion of policy/procedure requirements and semi-annual and annual reporting.
Assist program leadership with accurate financial reporting and monitoring; prepare data reports and
programmatic reports for contracts and funders.
 Maintain program event log with complete and accurate information.

 Maintain and increase up-to-date knowledge of immigration law and policies through daily reading (e-
mail list serves, publications) and participation in webinars, staff meetings, and periodic offsite training.

 Be thoroughly familiar with the policies and procedures guiding the work of this position in particular and
the work of the program. Perform job functions in line with these policies and procedures.
 Participate in trainings and demonstrate performance and quality improvement efforts.

 Flexibility and availability, including willingness to travel and work some weekends.
 International experience desirable – high degree of cultural sensitivity and competence required.

and a positive, solution-oriented approach.
 Willing to learn.
 Pass the Background Check.
 Bilingual (English and at least one language of Burma) strongly preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate must be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word) and internet
applications. A valid driver’s license is required, as the CM will be expected to transport clients in his/her own
vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed) and must have a reliable, working car for this purpose.
