Diversity Professional Leadership Network (DPLN)
Are you seeking professional development? Are you seeking to gain more clarity about your career path? Are you looking for a mentor that can show you the ropes of the professional world? Do you want to increase your employer network while simultaneously receiving additional coaching in your job search, interview prep, and career planning? Well, the DPLN program may be just for you!
What exactly is the DPLN program?
DPLN is a competitive credit-bearing externship opportunity for under-served/underrepresented Stony Brook University students. Participation in the program is based on how well the student’s career interests and grades align with recruiting needs of employer partners. Students who are accept into the program will earn 1 credit for EXT 488 or EXT 288 and the EXP+ Stony Brook Curriculum designation upon completion.
There are 3 components of the DPLN Program:
- Job & Internship Search Preparation: Provided by employer partners and Career Center staff
- Professional Development and Gaining Industry Knowledge: Provided by employer partners
- Reflection Journals & Other Assignments: Assigned by faculty sponsor and externship supervisor
Eligibility:
- You must identify as a traditionally underrepresented or underserved student
- You must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- You must have a graduation date of May 2025 or later

- After applying, you will be re-directed to a Qualtrics survey. Please fill out form and make sure to indicate your preference of host company if you are accepted into the DPLN program.
- You must complete the Qualtrics survey in order to complete your application
