Material Management Systems Summer 2024 Internship

Reporting to the Fuel Fabrication and Nuclear Material Management Manager, you will work on variety of projects. These projects are computer-based and aimed at modernizing and enhancing our Division’s use of technological resources. Some examples include, evaluation and reporting on inventory system options for stock materials, establishment of a Division internal-facing webpage, evaluating options for transitioning current hard-copy processes to computer-based solutions, and latitude to identify and act upon other areas for improvement via technological solutions.
This team works a 4x10 schedule and works onsite at the Materials and Fuels Complex near Idaho Falls, Idaho.
During your internship, you can attend colloquia that feature world-renowned researchers discussing a broad range of energy topics, from nuclear non-proliferation to hybrid energy systems. They tour INL, which covers 900-plus square miles, to learn about research programs, past accomplishments and INL plans for the future. These tours include visits to Experimental Breeder Reactor-1, where nuclear fission generated the world's first usable amount of electricity, the Advanced Test Reactor, the Transient Test Reactor, and the Hot Fuels Examination Facility. Additionally, you can participate in workshops to help develop important career related skills like resumé writing, interviewing, networking.
Qualifications - External
- Undergraduate Students enrolled full time at an accredited college/university studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, Inventory Management.
- A minimum overall (3.0)GPA
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT)

Compensation and Benefits:
- Undergraduate Internships ($25.65/hour - $30.70/hour)
- Masters Internships and PhD Internships Pre-Candidacy ($31.75/hour - $34.06/hour)
- PhD Internships Post-Candidacy ($33.75/hour - $36.06/hour)
- Eligible interns are provided paid holiday time off, and many of our internships offer travel reimbursements.
