Summer Desk Assistant
Compensation
- $10.00/hr paid biweekly via direct deposit
- This position does not provide housing or meals. SDAs are not required to live on-campus during their period of employment
Appointment Period & Commitments
- Sunday, May 12, 2024 to Wednesday, August 7, 2024 (potential option to work through August 25, 2024)
- Additional paid training dates in April (specifics will be determined after team is hired)
- SDA shifts typically take place Monday through Friday; SDAs may be required to work weekends during certain on-campus conferences
- Availability to work between 9 am & 6 pm is required
- SDAs should plan to work on average 30 hours most weeks. Schedules will typically be provided 2+ weeks in advance.
Job Responsibilities
- Opening and/or closing of Hall and University Housing offices, greeting office guests and addressing concerns
- Performing typing, photocopying, and filing
- Answering phones, taking messages, making calls
- Sending, receiving, and responding to emails
- Providing informed assistance in response to questions, directions, and problems upon request or observation
- Directing residents and guests to the proper campus & community resourcesĀ
- Sorting and distributing mail, maintaining correct addresses and forwarding mail informationĀ
- Knowing departmental policies and procedures as directed by University Housing
- Performing other duties as assigned by University Housing staff
- Perform administrative duties, including staffing hall office hours
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrolled as a UNI student for Spring 2024 and Fall 2024
- Minimum 2.25 cumulative and semester UNI GPA
- In good behavioral, academic, and financial standing with the university
- Outstanding skills in
- Verbal and written communication
- Crisis & risk management
- Advanced problem solving
- Customer service and ability to interact positively with residents and conference guests
- Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience with University Housing (RA, AA, DA, SHA, SDA)
