Transportation Engineer (Electrical)

The Division of Engineering Services (DES), Structures and Engineering Services (SES), Office of Electrical, Mechanical, Water, and Wastewater (OEMWW), is recruiting to fill a Transportation Engineer (Electrical) position, located in Sacramento.

This position exists within the Office of Electrical, Mechanical, Water & Wastewater Engineering (OEMWW). Under the direction of a Senior Electrical Engineer (Supervisor), incumbent will perform electrical engineering design, specification writing, estimating, and inspection work involved in the design, construction and maintenance of Department facilities and systems. Facilities include: storm water drainage pumping plants, vehicular tunnels, movable bridges, safety roadside rest areas, highway maintenance stations, equipment repair shops, toll plazas, truck weigh and inspection facilities, office buildings, water and wastewater facilities, and other transportation-related facilities. Systems include power distribution, lighting, communication, controls, photovoltaic and security. Traveling and driving to various locations and field inspections are required.

Possession of a valid Driver’s License is required when operating a state-owned, leased or personal vehicle to perform these duties.

Candidates are required to review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification. If you meet MQs under Pattern II and require the TE Electrical in-person written hurdle exam, DO NOT TAKE the TE Electrical online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Candidates who take the TE Electrical online exam prior to passing the written hurdle may negatively impact their hiring eligibility. Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Transportation Engineer (Electrical) Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
