Natural Resources Consulting Engineers, Inc., a water resources consulting engineering firm has an opening for a full-time civil and water resources/irrigation engineer in Arizona. This position will provide technical support for a Tribal Water Resources Department located in Parker, Arizona. The Assistant Engineer position requires a B.S. degree in engineering. Candidates enrolled in equivalent programs who are on track to receive a B.S. degree may be considered, with future completion of degree required.  The Associate Engineer position requires either a B.S. degree with related experience of 3+ years or a M.S. degree in engineering. Duties of the position may include but are not limited to:

  • Assists with the conceptual and final design of hydraulic and water resource systems including irrigation, municipal, and flood control facilities.
  • Performs computer simulations of hydraulic and hydrologic systems, including modeling of water distribution systems.
  • Conducts hydrologic and hydraulic evaluations for water supply master plans to include drought contingency planning and an assessment of potential water supply expansion.
  • Prepares preliminary and final designs for dams and associated facilities, including diversion dams, supply canals, pipelines, lift stations, and farm delivery.
  • Assists with water supply infrastructure development projects.
  • Assists with the conceptual and final designs of irrigation facilities including canals, diversion structures, and water control and water measurement structures.
  • Performs hydraulic computer simulation modeling of open-channel flow and water distribution systems.
  • Provides support in the formulation of technical memorandums, construction-level drawings, technical specifications, and project cost estimations.
  • Prepares portions of reports and technical memoranda to be submitted to clients.
  • Provides hands-on water resources monitoring and measurement programs, including site selection and establishment, data collection equipment maintenance, field data collection, data QA/QC and processing, data reporting. Field work may require activities such as moderate/heavy lifting, stooping/bending, frequent walking on uneven surfaces and working outside in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Provides general technical support for the Water Resources Department.
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with clients, fellow employees and others you come in contact with while working.

Position is full-time and includes benefits. The annualized entry-level salary range for the Assistant Engineer position is $50,000-$65,000 and the annualized salary range for the Associate Engineer position is $75,000-95,000. NRCE offers 16 working days of paid time off annually, that accrues monthly, for new employees. While the candidate is assigned to the project in Arizona, housing and moving stipends will be provided (or housing provided) for those candidates who have to relocate to the Parker, AZ or Lake Havasu City, AZ area.
