Nuclear Physics Intern - NUCLE007582-00001

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) has an outstanding Nuclear Physics Internship opportunity for a full-time student who is currently enrolled in a graduate-degree program. The successful candidate will support DTRA’s Technical Reachback program through conducting studies of nuclear weapons effects in and above the earth’s atmosphere. This research requires an understanding of nuclear physics and nuclear effects phenomenology. The results of this research will be used to enhance confidence in current modeling source terms and to identify gaps requiring additional research.

 

Required Qualifications:

     * Actively enrolled in a graduate program

     * Successfully completed a Bachelor’s level program in civil, structural or mechanical engineering

     * Currently enrolled in a Physics related graduate school program

     * Must be a U.S. Citizen

     * Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

 

Desired Qualifications:

     * Currently enrolled in a Physics related graduate school program

     * C++, python, or other computer programming experience

     * AT&D modeling experience

     * Active DoD security clearance
