Automation and Technology Internship - The Toro Company

The Automation Internship will provide technical support to project teams developing automated manufacturing and material handling equipment and will assist in development and support of various industrial manufacturing systems.  Systems supported will include industrial robots, cobots, AGV’s, smart tools, run-up tables and other automated or “smart” equipment. 

 

What Will You Do?

  • Support project teams by developing schematics and documentation for automated equipment
  • Assist in the development, construction, and integration of automated equipment – modify existing equipment to optimize performance or integrate new features
  • Support site’s manufacturing lines by providing on-site or remote technical troubleshooting of automated equipment
  • Interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics to troubleshoot or help build/install equipment
  • Help develop, deploy, and maintain run-up station software
  • Work on understanding of enterprise information system tools such as a manufacturing execution system (MES), Augmented Reality (AR) systems or other systems as required, and the integration of equipment to these systems.
  • Assist with the organization’s front-line transformation to understanding and using these tools
  • Assist in specifying components for systems, purchase of components, and maintaining project budgets and inventory
  • Frequently report verbally and in writing on project status
  • Other duties as assigned.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

  • Study in Electromechanical Engineering or similar preferred
  • Working knowledge of automated electrical systems including electrical wiring, control circuits, programming, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Creo Parametric, Creo View, Windchill or similar preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical and safety compliance codes preferred
  • Moderate understanding of industrial electrical systems including AC standard and servo motor drives, PLC integration, electromechanical control circuits involving pneumatic and hydraulic components
  • Experience in Ladder-Logic programming preferred
  • Experience with Vuforia augmented reality system preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.  Desire to learn new skills and maintain knowledge of new technologies
  • Must be independent, self-motivated, and open to technical mentoring.  Must have interpersonal skills in working with a variety of cross-functional teams
  • Flexible hours to cover overtime or other off-hours support.
