Student Assistant - User Services Specialist

Under direct supervision, the User Services Specialist provides IT service and support for the User Services team. The User Services Specialist will rely on excellent client service, problem-solving, and communication skills to provide support to resolve most day-to-day issues. Success in this role requires a well-rounded individual with a genuine enthusiasm for technology and a true interest in helping people achieve more through the careful adoption and support of information technologies.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assist ITCs in their daily work

• Help to image and deploy new computers

• Help Re-imaging computers

• Help with computer moves

• Troubleshoot classroom A/V issues

• Install software and hardware

• Help maintain computer labs and classrooms

• Inventory equipment

• Provide customer service

• Research projects

• Other projects as assigned

Qualifications:

• Be able to work as a team member and communicate effectively with the team.

• Be able to work during summer and winter breaks, as needed.

• Basic working knowledge of PC applications, Windows 10/11, and MAC OS.

• Basic working knowledge of computer hardware such as PCs, printers, scanners, and tablets.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Must be dependable, punctual, detail-oriented, independent, and self-motivated.

• Must be people oriented and able to interact with a diverse.

• Good working knowledge of general ITS processes.

• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, maintaining high accuracy.

• Ability to work a minimum of 15 hours per week during the semester and 35 during the breaks.

Specific Qualifications:

• Admission or registration as a student at CSUCI with a 2.5-grade point average or above.

• As a Bridge Student Assistant, the student need not be registered as a student, but must have been registered as a CSUCI student the previous term and intends to register for the following term

(unless the student has recently graduated).

• The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
