Internship - Internal Audit
American National Insurance Company was founded in 1905 and is headquartered in Galveston, TX, with several locations across the US: League City, TX, Houston, TX, Springfield, MO, and Glenmont, NY. Our Internship Program is designed to provide young professionals with corporate experience that is not offered in the classroom. In addition to supporting their respective department, each intern will have the opportunity to attend professional development sessions, volunteer within the community, and attend company sponsored social events.
Our 2024 summer internship program begins on Monday, June 3 and ends on Friday, August 9. Intern positions are paid hourly with a full-time schedule (Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week) for the entirety of the program.
Internship Program Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited institution
• Must hold a Junior standing or higher (May 2024 grads are welcome)
• Must possess a minimum 3.0 GPA
• Must be able to commit 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday
• Must be able to work onsite in the posted location of the role

What we’re looking for:
• Pursuing a degree in accounting, finance or other related business area
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail w/ high level accuracy
• Must be able to meet deadlines and balance changing priorities
What you can expect to do in the role:
• Assist with audit planning and testing for audits of third-party administrators and managing general agents
• Obtain and reconcile audit populations and perform population analysis
• Perform substantive testing of new business, refunds and claims transactions
• Perform research and prepare reference guides for various compliance items
Skills you can expect to improve and/or develop:
• Excel, Word, Workiva (Audit Management Software), Foxit, and SharePoint
• Professional communication, collaboration, and etiquette
• Corporate communication skills
