Oxy’s Summer Intern Program runs from May to August for a full 12 weeks. As an Oxy intern, you will have the opportunity to experience real-life projects with hands-on participation in Oxy’s core businesses. Your summer project will be designed to add value to our operations while providing an opportunity to observe your skills and competencies in action. Oxy interns are paired with a manager and mentor in order to provide technical guidance throughout the project timeline. Description
· This internship will offer access to interact and network with multiple segments of the ORCM organization, including the Automation Surveillance, Automation Engineering, Central Automation, Facilities Engineering, and Operations teams.
· The successful candidate will gain insight and exposure to the elements of Automation Engineering and field data acquisition, Process Historian application development and support, data analytics, process optimization, in addition to learning how those applications are utilized to create value to the end user within the Oil and Gas industry.
· The intern will collaborate with other Automation Engineers, Facilities Engineers, Process Engineers on the development of engineering deliverables such as Cause and Effect diagrams, I/O Lists, Build of Materials, Control Narratives associated to new Facilities and Wells or upgrades to existing ones.
· The intern will work closely with the Automation Construction and Commissioning Team to plan the execution of builds, installations and assist with field start-ups.
· Over the course of the internship, the intern will execute a project from inception to completion, if focused on the System side the project would be to develop an OSI-PI based solution to an existing problem or optimization need. If focused on the Engineering side, the project would be to develop a solution to a business problem through Optimization, engineering concepts and best practices.
· At the end of the internship, the candidate will present the solution to all segments of the Oxy organization, including executives and senior management.
Qualifications
· The applicant's graduation date must not precede the completion date of the internship program
· The applicant must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing an undergraduate degree in the fields of Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or Mathematics.
· Any experience with the following would be desired but not mandatory: OSI-PI, Iconics, PLCs, OPC, SQL, Project Management, data analytics.
· Solid written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work well in a team environment are a must.
· High academic standing – GPA 3.0 or higher
· Must have a graduation date of December 2024 – May 2026
