Seasonal Environmental Educator

$15/hr, 6-12 hours/week, primarily weekend work

The Root River Environmental Education Community Center (REC) is seeking applicants to fill part-time seasonal employee positions for the 2024 calendar year. Employment will begin mid-May and continue until the end of September. Job duties include: renting boat vehicles (kayaks and canoes), providing boat safety apparatus to customers, insuring that customers have completed necessary documentation to obtain boat rental usage, cash handling, and maintenance of the facility both indoors and outdoors. Staff will be responsible for developing and leading educational workshops for area youth groups and the public, and will be expected to participate in various events and creative projects throughout the 2024 season including summer camps and community projects. Hours may vary weekly. Primarily weekend work.

MUST be able to lift 50 lbs.

Interested individuals should have a passion for the environment, be customer service orientated, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and be comfortable interacting with peoples of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Creative minded individuals with environmental expertise, kayaking and/or canoeing experience, or social media experience will be given additional consideration.

The REC is a partnership between the College of Natural and Health Sciences at UW-Parkside and the City of Racine and is located at 1301 W 6th Street in Racine.
