Hospitality (Hotel) Interior Designer

POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Interior Designer I position is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and creation of project design concepts for small to mid-sized hospitality projects. In addition, this role is responsible for library organization and maintenance and all vendor coordination. The successful integration of this position into the team structure is essential to provide design and production support to all essential functions of a design studio. 

 

RESPONSIBLITIES 

 

DESIGN

  • Develop an eye for color, texture, and pattern – learning durability standards, installation, construction methods, etc.
  • Develop knowledge of contract hospitality sourcing and local sales representatives, provide direct coordination with vendors.
  • Assist the design team with interior finishes and furnishings selections, communicating with vendor representatives to research cost and specification information to ensure appropriate selections are made for the project budget.
  • Develop technical knowledge of hotel standards, fire codes, and ADA accessibility requirements for interiors.
  • Assist in producing content and layouts for digital design presentations (pinups, drawings, 3D massing, sketch studies, illustrations, models, preparing PDF plans, FF&E, and concept imagery presentations) under the direction of the Senior Designer, Senior Project Manager, and Studio Director
  • Assist in researching products and filling in finish, plumbing and other schedules.
  • Write FF&E and finish specifications using Spexx under the guidance of senior designer.
  • Prepare front end documents for Brand submittals under the direction of senior designer.
  • Assemble project spec binders.
  • Collaborate on assigned projects from conceptual design through construction administration with guided direction from Senior Designers, Senior Project Managers, and Studio Director.
  • Assemble interior finish boards and presentation materials using InDesign software.
  • Participate in onsite field measures with a senior design team member - as needed.

 

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Review Project Tracker for work assigned and enter tasks completed.
  • Effectively utilize time tracking software, meet target utilization rates, and begin to understand project profitability.
  • Maintain day-to-day correspondence with internal and external sources as required.
  • Develop an understanding of a highly organized approach to the design process – resulting in on time, on budget deliverables.
  • Collaborate with senior team members to coordinate communication including meeting minutes, email documentation, and transmittals.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION | LICENSING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design (required)

  • Revit (preferred)

  • Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop & InDesign
  • Google Sketch-Up
  • Spexx (desirable)

HOSPITALITY | INTERIOR DESIGN

  • Sketching skills
  • Able to research, prepare, and present color and material concepts in a tasteful and unique format along with space plans, elevations, and details.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently achieving high standards and goals.
