Mechanical/Biomedical Engineering Design Internship
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The possibilities at the intersection of medicine and technology are endless, which means endless opportunities to make your mark on the world. This is a summer opportunity for students to partner with our talented engineers and scientists on real-projects in a collaborative environment to design, develop, test, and verify the design of implantable medical devices and systems with increasing responsibility.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Support programs by providing useful and relevant inputs that enable design highly reliable products and procedures. Work with their key partners to provide relevant information about pre-clinical and/or clinical use conditions of our products that feed efforts in design, testing, numerical modeling, and procedure development. This will involve close collaboration with fellow team members and stakeholders.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Enrolled in a Biomedical Engineering (medical device design emphasis or program with similar curriculum) or Mechanical Engineering program
- GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale;
- Completion of sophomore (2nd) year and admission into upper division
- US work authorization is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Working towards a degree in Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Familiarity in some of the following depending on position: medical image analysis software (e.g. Mimics); CAD or FEA; algorithm/code scripting; statistics; mechanical design; anatomy/physiology.
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Works well in a team environment.
- Demonstration of leadership, teamwork, communication and mechanical aptitude through work experience, school projects, extracurricular activities or non-engineering work experience.
