Career Ambassador for the CCPD
HIRING FOR FALL OF 2024
Position Overview:
The Career Ambassador (CA) is a part-time position in the Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD). The primary role of a CA is to assist students with application materials, document creation, critiques, and outreach to student groups on campus.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist peers as they draft resumes, cover letters, and application materials.
- Help with correspondence for internships, externships, post-graduate employment, or advanced study opportunities.
- Teach fellow students how to utilize various online platforms, including Handshake, Big Interview, and LinkedIn.
- Giving presentations about the services the CCPD offers/platforms
- Approving jobs on Handshake
- Posting jobs on Handshake
- Assist with CCPD events
- Designing flyers for events
- Distributing flyers and other marketing materials across campus
- Creating content for social media
Qualifications:
- First-year or Sophomore preferred
- Federal Work Study heavily considered
- Ability to work individually as well as in a team
- Responsible for carrying out assignments and meeting deadlines
- Professionalism, including confidentiality regarding sensitive materials
- Ability to communicate and represent the department in working with students, faculty, staff, alums, and employers
- Comfort with and ability to learn and work in a variety of software platforms
Career Associate Expectations:
- A commitment of at least eight to ten hours weekly
- Mandatory bi-weekly staff meetings
- Mandatory one week of training before classes start in the Fall of 2024 (in-person)
- Enthusiasm for and representation of the CCPD at various programs and events;
- Presentations to peers, departmental outreach, and on-campus information sharing
- Lead, facilitate, and host career-related programs in the Career Studio.

- An ability to demonstrate effective adaptability to new and emerging technology
- An ability to learn to navigate and explore job options and employers
