Program Engineering Intern/Co-Op

JOB SUMMARY
Supports the Process Manufacturing Engineer in his/her duties to effectively integrate new model product into GWV Stamping by evaluating, determining and procuring the necessary equipment and processes to support such activities to satisfy customer requirements. 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.  Understand and comply with all OSHA, safety and PPE requirements
2.  Understand and comply with all TS16949 & ISO-14001, AIAG requirements.
3.  Health & Safety of self and collogues including outside contractors or support personnel.
4.  Assist in the evaluating End of Arm Tooling requirements with development, procuring and implementation of such.
5.  Assist in analyzing incoming dies/tools and determine the necessary equipment requirements for fit and function.
6.  Determine and order the necessary equipment and/or tools for new model implementation.
7.  Be part of engineering change teams and implementation.
8.  Generation of Process Flow Charts, Set-up Sheets, Work Instructions & Line Layouts as it pertains to new models planned for Cold Stamping Production Floor.
9.  Generate documentation needed for MRO stock set-up and order levels for new tooling such as End of Arm Tooling.
10. Adhere to Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies.
11. Prepare, record and document line speed demonstration events and results both in-house and for the customer. Such events as Run at Rate and 2DP events.
12. Assist in applying ergonomic and safety metrics and tools in the development and implementation of tools and processes for new model implementation.
13. Support upcoming launch requirements with line/press/equipment capacity studies.
14. Be current in latest technology and trends concerning stamping and automation operations.
15. Support the Quality group in evaluation and improvement of product dimensional reports
16. Support team functions by:
a.    Kaizen submittal and implementation
b.    Cross-training with others
c.    Backfills other work stations as needed
d.    Problem solving
e.    Supports operational metrics and meets operational needs
17. Other duties as assigned
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. At least a 2 year Associates Degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical/Electronics Engineering or Technology and/or the equivalent work experience.
2. At least 2 years job related experience in an Automotive manufacturing environment/industry or 4 yrs min in non-automotive manufacturing environment/industry.
3. Can demonstrate work experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment
4. Coil Feed, Cold Stamping & Forming, Press Controls and Automation experience in the automotive field is highly considered.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  1. AutoCAD experience.
  2. Basic understanding of Ergonomics and Safety in work environments both in processes and equipment.
  3. Strong people skills with a willingness to empower the team
  4. Effectively able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  5. Basic understanding of Lean Principals & Tools, APQP, TS16949 & ISO-14001 requirements.
  6. Working knowledge of MS Office
  7. Working knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, Capacity Studies, Time & Motion concepts.
  8. Working knowledge of electronics/robotics/automation such as sensors, device interfaces, and controls.
 
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
1.    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk and hear

3.    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
