Summer Associate (Enterprise Risk, Risk Strategy and Optimization)
At Navy Federal Credit Union, a risk-aware culture begins with its employees. The Enterprise Risk (ER) division empowers the enterprise to manage risk proactively and efficiently. The Risk Strategy and Optimization (RSO) department provides project and change management, training, and communication support to ER.
The Summer Associate will work in a hybrid capacity as an RSO team member, dedicated to the Communications branch. Responsibilities will include developing and maintaining technical and non-technical reference materials, including policies, procedures, presentations, training materials, and other work products. The Summer Associate will gain experience in the art of communication, negotiation, and change management.
The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2024 or later.
Responsibilities for Internal Candidates
- Conduct research and preparation of reference material
- Create and update presentations/briefs
- Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create and maintain policies and procedures
- Create and maintain ER SharePoint content, perform access and technical updates
- Develop and maintain eNet content
- Create and maintain foundational documents
- Assist with the maintenance of ER’s Navy Federal Academy page
- Ensure clear, concise, and effective communication of material
Qualifications for Internal Candidates
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience in composing correspondence that adheres to grammar and Navy Federal writing style and standards
- Experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
- Experience in researching, compiling, and documenting data, business processes, and workflow
- Experience in working and participating in cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects
- Working knowledge of PC and web/internet-based technologies e.g. HTML, trends/issues, management, editing/authoring tools, and development
- Basic database and presentation software skills
- Basic skill in capturing and translating processes and requirements into easily understood terms
- Basic skills exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
- Basic verbal and written communication skills
- Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Effective skill in following, interpreting, and applying relevant data/instructions to guidelines, procedures, practices, and regulations
