Engineering Co-op - OrthoBiologics/Vet

With a corporate mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™, Arthrex has pioneered the field of arthroscopy and develops more than 1,000 innovative products and procedures each year that support all aspects of orthopedics. We are searching for a co-op pursuing an Engineering degree to support the Orthobiologics/Vet Engineering team here in sunny Naples, FL. This role will help drive product innovation and support the Angel Systems. The co-op will have the opportunity to design and evaluate medical device prototypes and build working relationships with internal departments. This Co-op will run from July 2024 – December 2024. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.

 

Main Objective:  

The OrthoBiologics/Vet Engineering Department is seeking a Co-op to support and assist with product development efforts of the Angel Systems. This Co-op will be responsible for CAD modeling, drawing updates, reverse engineering of products, and the ability to present data/results from product testing to cross-functional teams. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Support product development process.
  • Reverse engineer products (Ex: Test Fixtures). 
  • Facilitate engineering change orders.                                             
  • Update CAD models and create engineering drawings. 
  • Assist with maintenance projects and performance evaluation of products. 
  • Write and perform protocols. 
  • This is an in-office position located in Naples, FL; it is not a remote position. 

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Bioengineering. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.) 
  • General understanding of engineering design process preferred. 
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy/ physiology a plus. 
  • Excellent organization and leadership skills. 
  • Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0. 

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills: 

  • Experience with CAD software (Solidworks, Creo, or AutoCAD) required. 
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
