Teacher- Multi-Grade (6-12); Bilingual Spanish preferred

BASIC FUNCTION/DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Altus Schools is an educational model in which students in grades 6-12 engage in blended learning instruction while working towards individualized course completion via a Pathways Personalized Education Plan (PPEP). The Altus Schools Educator is competent, energetic, and student-centered with exceptional classroom management and organizational skills. This position requires a dedicated individual who understand adolescents, is able to motivate students, sets high expectations, employs a data-driven approach, embraces accountability, and is a team player.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or abilities associated with this classification, but is instead intended to accurately reflect the primary job elements.
• Supports every student’s growth in all academic areas, including Reading, Writing, and Mathematics’
• In collaboration with the team, creates, implements, monitors, and adjusts students’ Pathways Personalized Education Plans (PPEPs) to support achievement of individual educational goals
• Utilizes a variety of formative and summative assessments to evaluate students’ standards mastery and progress
• Embodies an inclusive, student-centered approach that focuses on equitable access for all students
• Facilitates collaborative discussions with students and parents to address and adjust program goals
• Supervises, mentors, and evaluates Certificated Teacher Resources (CTRs)
• Proctors local and state summative assessments in a focused, compliant testing environment
• Demonstrates evidence of team building, collaboration, creative problem solving, flexibility, conflict resolution, cultural sensitivity, and genuine care for each student
• Engages in professional learning opportunities with genuine interest to improve practices and outcomes
• Accesses multiple online and print-based curricular tools to support all students, including the needs of specific student groups
• Implements all elements of the English Learner plan to support language proficiency and growth
• Collaborates with Education Specialist on goals, progress, and needs of Special Education students
• Maintains compliance with all independent study requirements while simultaneously meeting deadlines
• Accounts for school resources and ensures materials are properly cared for and returned in a timely manner
• Gains proficiency in various online academic support systems to track student progress and access real-time data
• Implements the MTSS process in order to engage all learners in the academic program
• Customizes academic plans based on information gained through student assessments and surveys
• Participates on a department with a specific focus on curriculum, college and career readiness, diversity, equity, and inclusion, or data and technology systems integration
• Creates and maintains community partnerships and serves as a key participant in the organization’s marketing plan
• Responsible for developing, implementing, and participating in regular and ongoing marketing and community outreach activities and events to ensure students and parents are aware of the school as a free public option.
• Responsible for developing, implementing, and participating in regular and ongoing student retention activities and strategies to ensure no student drops out and current and previous students are aware of the school as a free public option.
• Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge and experience with curriculum tools and instructional strategies
• Proficient with online educational platforms and virtual conferencing tools
• Self-starter who thrives on challenge and is able to multi-task
• Excellent organizational, time management, and record keeping skills
• Experience supporting student groups, including English Learners, Gifted students, Homeless/Foster youth, and Special Education students

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Current California Single- or Multi-Subject Teaching Credential
• CLAD Certification/EL Authorization
• Clear background check by Department of Justice and FBI
• Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation required

• Pass a workstyles/behavior survey and math assessment
