Occupational Therapy Assistant

HIRING: CERTIFIED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT (COTA) 

We are searching for a certified occupational therapy assistant looking for an excellent opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary pediatric clinic with a family-friendly environment. We need someone who would begin working ASAP with an existing caseload in Rockwall, Texas for a Monday – Thursday work week. Excel is a pediatric only facility serving children with a variety of diagnoses and offering physical, occupational and speech therapies. The job responsibilities include assisting therapists in the development, recovery and/or rehabilitation process for patients with deficits due to injury, congenital disease, disability, etc, using a variety of techniques. You should be able to work with children from different backgrounds and be willing to work in a multidisciplinary environment. 

What You’ll Do: • Provide one-on-one therapeutic treatment and secure patients into or onto therapy equipment. • Administer a variety of standardized and clinical screenings and assessments. • Demonstrate and distribute home exercise programs for patients and their caregivers. • Provide data entry/transcription for clinical documentation, assessments, diagnostic evaluations, standardized testing, and screenings within an EMR system. • Transport patients to and from treatment areas; including using mobility aids or providing standing support. • Appropriately communicate with patients, family members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care. • Educate patients and their families on relevant disorders and available therapies. • Provide mentoring, training, and/or supervision to therapy assistants, aides/technicians, students, interns, and/or new staff. • Assess the need for, order, maintain, educate on, and demonstrate the use of various medical equipment; including, but not limited to, prosthetic or orthotic devices, alternative communication devices, mobility aids, feeding aids, etc. • Monitor, answer, process, and/or route internal and external communications via phone, email, snail mail, EMR, and intraoffice systems. • Create, fax, scan and copy documents, reports, and special projects in various Office and/or EMR software; including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Teams. • Advance your skills and practice by attending conferences, completing continuing education, and furthering your scope of practice understanding. 

What You’ll Need: • Completion of accredited Therapy Assistant program and current Texas licensure required. • Full understanding of State Practice Act(s) and compliance with licensure requirements. • Sound understanding of childhood disorders and treatments. • At least one year of experience with the pediatric population. • Good verbal and written communication skills. • Physical ability to perform job duties as outlined; including, but not limited to: lifting, positioning, transferring, and maintaining children and/or equipment.
