The team you'll be part of
The student will collaborate with researchers and innovators in the Integrated Solutions and Experiences (ISE) Laboratory in the Bell Labs Solutions Research organization. This team is focused on impactful research outcomes in industrial automation and is therefore very hands-on and collaborative. There are many opportunities for extensive interdisciplinary work.
Education Recommendations
Currently a candidate for a Master’s degree or diploma in human-computer interaction, interaction design, or a related field with an accredited school in the U.S.
In this role, you will be part of the App & Solution Software Research team in the Integrated Solutions and Experiences Lab. We are researching, designing, and developing innovative solutions and frameworks in the realm of environmental sensing, digital twins, and the industrial metaverse.
You will research, design, and prototype exciting new UI/UX experiences across environmental sensing and digital twin/industrial metaverse use cases.
As part of our team, you will:
· UI/UX research, design, and prototyping of new concepts and experiences
· Create user interface designs for both 2D and 3D environments
· Ideate new use cases and experiences, generate innovative concepts and ideas
· Collaborate with team members to create innovative ideas and develop proofs-of-concept and prototype solutions
· Test and validate designs and prototypes with users and stakeholders
We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative UI/UX Designer, who can design innovative experiences and features for our research projects. You communicate well, can think out of the box, always keeping an eye on delivering high-quality work, and can thrive in a highly dynamic environment.
You have:
- Experience with both user experience and graphical design
- Experience with designing for 3D, VR, or XR
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate ideas, vision, and designs
- Minimum GPA 3.0.
It would be nice if you also had:
- A portfolio of design projects
- Experience with design software, including 3D design tools (Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine, etc.)
- Working knowledge of 3D design principles, interaction design principles, and information architecture
- Exceptional creative thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work within a highly technical environment
