Medical Staff Needed at MDA Summer Camp in Burton, TX

Camp is not just a place, it’s a feeling! A magical place where anything is possible – from swimming, to zip-lining, sports and games. 

Each summer, kids and young adults ages 8-17 living with neuromuscular diseases attend life-changing overnight camps around the US. While at MDA Summer Camp, they learn to accept personal care from someone other than their parents, build confidence, independence, and foster lifelong friendships. They also get the chance to spend time with other kids who understand what it’s like to live with a neuromuscular disease. 

Each MDA Summer Camp has a team of dedicated volunteer health professionals who work together to maintain the health and well-being of campers and volunteers by administering medications, delivering first aid, or providing emotional support. Medical Team Members are also responsible for reviewing camper application materials, maintaining health and treatment documentation, maintaining equipment and supplies, and being part of the emergency decision team.  

Medical Teams may consist of individuals with the following active licenses: 

Physicians (MD, DO) 

Physician Assistants 

Nurses (APRN, RN, LPN) 

Certified Medication Technicians 

Pharmacists 

Respiratory Therapists 

Physical Therapists 

Medical Team Requirements: 

Hold an active license in the state the Summer Camp is held 

Be able to follow MDA established rules and policies 

Always willing to put the campers’ needs first 

For consistency of care, it is preferred that volunteers remain on-site for the entire Summer Camp week. However, shorter shifts may be available based on the needs of each camp.  

A completed application consists of a Reservation submitted via, UltraCamp, as well as: 

Signed and dated Physical form (from within the last 12 months) 

Copy of the front and back of your insurance card 

Copy of your immunization record and COVID-19 Vaccine Card (if separate) 

Two completed professional references
