Area Manager - Summer 2024
BASIC FUNCTION:
Are you ready to make a real difference in and around your community? Hastings Water Works Managers can and do make a difference. The Area Manager must project a positive image for Hastings Water Works, to their staff and clients. Responsible for; client satisfaction and employee engagement. The Area Manager will also lifeguard in addition to management responsibilities.
Account Management:
- Communicate with the client on a weekly basis. Act as a client relations representative to address any client problems, issues, and disagreements and communicate all client issues to the District Manager
- Assisting with preseason client kick-off meetings and introducing yourself to all clients, prior to the season beginning
- Responsible for chemical logs and general pool maintenance
Personnel Management:
· Responsible for communicating feedback to employees; consisting of praise, coaching, and discipline
· Organize and run preseason orientation for new and returning employees
· Responsible for communicating escalated employee, and client issues, and concerns to the District Manager
· Responsible for holding lifeguards to the standard of the American Red Cross certification, the Ohio Revised Code, and Hastings Water Works standards and policies
Technical:
· Responsible for basic pool service knowledge, which may include, but is not limited to backwashing pool filter systems, cleaning pump baskets, cleaning skimmer baskets, managing chemical feeders, balancing pool chemistry, and priming a pool pump
Job Complexity:
· Ability to supervise a team of 10-45 employees
· Manage 3-6 client facilities
· Ability to adapt and change priorities quickly
· Work a regular 40-hour work week with approximately half of the hours lifeguarding at pools in designated areas. Lifeguarding hours may vary depending on the size of the area
· Must have a driver's license and reliable transportation
Administrative:
· Work with the office to manage employee schedules, availability, requests, and communication
· Inventory management of supplies and chemicals at facilities
· Attend bi-weekly manager meetings at our Brecksville office
Requirements
Essential:
- A minimum age of 17 years of age
Preferred:
- 2+ years lifeguarding
- 2+ years working in a customer service-related industry; retail, restaurant, sales
- Prior experience working at a facility utilizing American Red Cross Lifeguarding standards
- Mechanically inclined, can work with tools
