Laboratory Coordinator
Job Description:
Scismic is helping a Boston-based Medical Device startup find a young intern who is currently enrolled in a 2-year training program. The Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for the overall organization of the company’s laboratory based workspaces, as an example duties included in this are expected to be: organizing and maintaining organization of the laboratories structure and cleanliness, ordering laboratory supplies, monitoring inventory levels, scheduling Lab Instrument maintenance, repair, and calibration of equipment. This individual will interface with environmental health & safety (EHS) personnel, research and development staff, and support the maintenance of the company’s quality management system (QMS). The Laboratory Coordinator will follow the company’s standard operating procedures (SOPs), and develop, design, and implement modifications to such procedures to increase overall efficiency and effectiveness. This individual must be able to meet deadlines and assess priorities for handling multiple projects and fluctuating workloads. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit purchase requisitions for laboratory services, supplies and equipment
- Physically receive, visually inspect, and record the receipt of purchased items in the company’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system
- Organize and maintain inventory to ensure its availability
- Regularly conduct inventory audits and reconciliations
- Schedule the maintenance, repair, and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Verify and manage the shipment of supplies and equipment to research partners as well as the return post research project
- Work with product development engineers to assist in preparing the labs and equipment for conducting both in-house and external laboratory-based research projects and experiments
- Develop and maintain a clean and organized structure within the company’s laboratory spaces, including the sanitization of all laboratory surfaces
- Manage and track biohazardous and chemical waste
- Review and support the development of standard operating policies and procedures; Assist in the preparation and support of external audits
- Assist Team with lab space planning, expansion and implementation of new processes and equipment.
- Perform other administrative and clerical tasks and projects as may be required from time to time.
Essential Education, Skills, Environment Education and Work Experience:
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Ability to learn new software systems as needed
- Prior knowledge of working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software systems preferred
- Experience working with a cross-functional teams
- Exceptional time management, communication, and problem-solving skills
