Williams Center Technician
Campus division and/or location: Mainstage Theater, Williams Center for the Arts (317 Hamilton St.) and Landis Cinema, Buck Hall (219 N. 3rd St.)
Job Description:
Assist the Production Manager in the advance work and performance operation of the William Center’s venues and equipment as well as in the operation of the Buck Hall’s Landis Cinema’s screening equipment, including:
- Moving and assembly of risers, orchestra shell, chairs, stands and other staging equipment
- Hang, circuit, and focus lighting;
- Act as backstage or booth crew for live music, dance and other artistic style performances.
- Clean, organize and maintain theatrical spaces and equipment;
- Work with power woodworking and metalworking tools;
- May require working at height on ladder and aerial work platforms;
- Requires lifting objects up to 50 lbs;
- Operate Landis Cinema “smart" podium with control of projector, sound-system and houselights;
- Set and test audio output levels for Landis Cinema’s wireless microphone and loudspeakers;
- Test and screen National Theatre Live films via IceCrypt player in Landis Cinema;
- Test and screen Great Art on Screen films via blu-ray player in Landis Cinema; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired skills: Theatrical, lighting, projection, computers, woodworking, and/or crafting experience desired.
Hours per week: Varies based on student's schedule, usually between 4-10 hours weekly.
