About American Economic Liberties Project
The American Economic Liberties Project is a non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to fighting monopoly power. We combine policy and regulatory expertise with strategic communications, coalition-building, and advocacy campaigns to help ensure policymakers protect workers, small businesses, communities, and democracy from monopolistic corporations to advance economic liberty for all.
Position Summary
Economic Liberties seeks a Summer Intern to join its research and policy team and the growing movement to protect America’s economy and democracy from concentrated corporate power. Ideal candidates will have strong writing skills, research capabilities, the ability to work independently, and an eagerness to learn. Primary responsibilities will include:
- Work with research staff to develop new or update existing policy toolkits for federal, state, and local policymakers.
- Research and draft memos, website copy, talking points, social media content and other materials for use in public policy campaigns.
- Draft letters and other communications to federal agencies, members of Congress, and advocacy groups on specific policy priorities.
Qualifications
- Sense of curiosity about antimonopoly policy, how markets work, and ways public policy could help decentralize economic power.
- Ability to convey complex information, including academic research, surveys and statistics, and public policy, both orally and in writing to a broad and diverse audience in a concise, clear, and conversational manner.
- Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to keep track of multiple tasks, meet competing deadlines, and communicate potential conflicts with Economic Liberties’ staff.
- Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving, with strong decision-making capability and ability to give and receive timely feedback and edits.
