Requisition Summary

Kenworth Division of PACCAR is looking for a highly motivated individual who is interested in gaining professional Program Management experience in an industry-leading manufacturing company to join our 2024 Internship Program in Kirkland, WA.

This internship is scheduled to begin in May or June 2024.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • The goal of the program management internship is to provide the successful candidate with professional experience executing a variety of deliverables within the Program Management Office (PMO) in a Fortune 500 company setting.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of deliverables that cover the five phases of the PMBOK project management lifecycle over the 10- to 12-week internship. Activities and deliverables may include:
    • Leading various project management activities within larger vehicle and powertrain programs in support of the Program Managers that are leading them.
    • Documenting user stories, ensuring stakeholders perform testing, providing consolidated test feedback to vendor(s), and documenting program management workflows as part of the Project Online toolchain currently under development within the PMO.
    • Documenting current project- and program-related processes and templates, peer reviewing them, and releasing them in the Kenworth Quality Manual or PACCAR Corporate Specifications with a focus on continuous improvement.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • The successful candidate will work with product planning, engineering, information technology, manufacturing, and testing functions within Kenworth, as well as other PACCAR divisions, to deliver on internship goals.
  • The successful candidate will report to a program manager within the department and will have direct access to the Director of Program Management at Kenworth.

 

This is a full-time, short-term, on-site position.

 

Skills / Competencies

Required skills and experience for this position include:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate complex ideas to people of various backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks covering different phases of the project management lifecycle.
  • A resourceful self-starter who utilizes strong analytical skills to tackle problems with unknown solutions in an innovative, team-building manner.
  • Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills and experience.

 

Preferred skills and experience for this position include:

  • Strong Microsoft Project Online, SharePoint, and Power BI skills.
  • Experience with lean continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Employment experience in a multidisciplinary organization.
  • Educational background in program management, supply chain or technical field including, math, data analytics, computer science, engineering, etc.

 

Education

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program pursuing a degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or other related fields

  • Junior or senior standing preferred

The salary range for internship positions is $25 an hour for undergraduate students and $30 an hour for graduate students.
