Counterintelligence Agent

Overview

Counterintelligence Special Agents conduct investigations and analysis to detect and counter foreign intelligence entities and international terrorist threats. They detect and identify the counterintelligence related inter threats and conduct the appropriate countermeasures.






Job Duties


  • Detect, exploit and neutralize intelligence threats
  • Investigate national security crimes
  • Serve as an Army CI liaison
  • Collect and process forensic and physical evidence
  • Conduct CI support to force protection






Requirements

Counterintelligence Agents must have high moral standards and the utmost integrity. Due to the nature of work required of Counterintelligence Agents, strict qualification must be met prior to application. Minimum eligibility requirements are listed below.
In Service Requirements:
  • In-service Soldiers only, E4 (PZ and SZ) or E5
  • No felony or court martial convictions
  • U.S. Citizen; immediate family members must also be U.S. citizens
  • A minimum age of 21 upon completion of the CI Special Agent Course
  • Normal color vision (no exception to policy authorized)
  • Skilled Technical (ST) score of 105 or higher
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Eligibility for Top Secret clearance
 
Entry Level Requirements:
 
  • U.S. citizenship
  • 20 years of age or older
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • No record of conviction by court-martial or Article 15 proceedings
  • No felony arrests or convictions
  • Eligibility for a Top Secret (TS) security clearance
  • A Valid driver’s license
  • No physical limitations and no history of mental or emotional disorders
  • Normal color vision







Training

Job training for a Counterintelligence Agent requires 18 weeks at the Counterintelligence Special Agent Course, with additional on-the-job training. Advanced training is also available in areas such as Foreign CI Training, CI Collection, Technical Surveillance and Countermeasures, CI Cyber, and CI Debriefing.
