Outdoor Recreation Internships - Summer Camp
Camp Skylemar seeks Outdoor Recreation Staff for this summer. As a Skylemar staff member, you’ll have the opportunity to be a creative leader and hero while teaching and mentoring kids. Our mission is to make a positive impact in the world, one child at a time. You'll be mentored and develop dynamic skills within our collaborative community. Staff orientation week and weekly in-service training sessions provide a strong foundation to assume summer responsibilities.
Camp Skylemar is a well-established (since 1948) recreational summer camp, located in southern Maine. The state of Maine, is more than a destination – it’s an experience that will take your breath away. In summer, there’s no better place to be than in Maine. From the beaches to the mountains, there’s so much to explore, and enjoy during your free time.
The Outdoor Recreation Staff will teach classes, promote leadership, and lead hikes and overnight camping trips. Our ropes course consists of several high and low elements as well as a climbing wall. As a Ropes Course Counselor, staff assists our Ropes Course Director with the day-to-day running of the course. Counselors assist with team-building games and activities, spot kids as they navigate the obstacles on the low course as well as belay kids when they are on the high course and the climbing wall.
Compensation packages start at $3,200. We also provide free housing, all meals, travel expenses, staff clothing, time off, WIFI, and a laundry service. Skylemar provides and covers the costs of all specialized training. Positions run from June 16 – August 11, 2024. Some staff arrive earlier or stay later to fulfill their internship requirements. You can take a college class online while here. We provide free time to train/work out. We also have some simple ways Skylemar staff members can earn extra money this summer. We also offer staff the ability to workout, train, and take online classes.
We offer internship credit. Most educational institutions require prior approval before the start of an internship. Check with your institution to be sure this opportunity meets any requirements.
