Safety Engineer

Microchip is seeking a Safety Engineer to support all aspects of risk-based health and safety programs as a member of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Team at our Lawrence and Lowell, Massachusetts Operations. The candidate will be required to split time between two locations, one in Lawrence and the other in Lowell. The preferred candidate will have a technical background/education in safety, occupational health, and/or industrial hygiene. The candidate will be  a functional member of the EHS department and will be directly involved with coordinating and performing various safety and industrial hygiene functions critical to the operation of the plant.  He or she will partner with various organizations to provide technical support and coordination of overall health and safety compliance, implementation of health and safety policies and procedures, and training consistent with the company’s policies and guiding principles.  The candidate will maintain effective relationships with plant management, employees, contractors, community representatives and regulators. The essential functions of this position include assisting senior Safety and Health personnel with day-to-day tasks, collecting and analyzing data, interacting with other departments to gather data, presenting findings, and helping to share the workload and streamline administrative processes in both Lowell and Lawrence.
