Merchant

 

JOB SUMMARY

Embark on a dynamic journey as a Merchant, steering our business to unprecedented heights. Reporting to the Merchandising Manager, you'll be the visionary architect behind our sales and margin performance. Dive into the core of business analytics, unraveling sales patterns, competitor landscapes, and pricing strategies to craft ingenious product and pricing initiatives. Your strategic prowess will shine as you develop assortment plans that resonate with our brand, leveraging industry insights and customer feedback to fuel sales growth.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct comprehensive sales and competitor analysis, shaping robust product, pricing, and positioning strategies for Management, Design, and Marketing.
  • Leverage market insights and customer knowledge to drive sales growth through innovative product initiatives and strategic planning spanning two years.
  • Craft product roadmaps and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure product development aligns with Weissman's brand, considering financial history, customer feedback, trends, and competition.
  • Partner with Inventory Planning to execute annual plans and real-time forecasting, guiding repeat orders and initial markdown timing based on sales trends and customer input.
  • Utilize industry expertise to advise on product strategies and identify new business opportunities leveraging market trends and competitive landscapes.
  • Set item pricing to meet financial goals, collaborating with Design and Product Development to optimize margins through cost-efficient garment engineering.
  • Ensure product excellence by working closely with Design and Product Development teams, exceeding customer needs and expectations.
  • Foster team growth and leadership by consistently providing feedback and personalized development plans to advance the merchandising team.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 to 7 years of buying or product development (product concept to consumer) and merchandising experience
  • Demonstrated success in managing and growing a business
  • Strong analytical skills, understanding of financial metrics and business development

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Dance experience preferred
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively cross-functionally and to influence ideas internally
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and team member development
  • Independent decision making and problem solving skills
  • Organized and Accountable
  • Proficient in Google Workspace products (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides) and Microsoft Excel
