Quantum Computing Research Intern

Job Description:

This position is open and suited to a candidate with interest in any topics related to quantum algorihms/computing research, including quantum machine learning, quantum simulation, quantum control, and applications of quantum computing in various problems. Applications may include AI/machine learning, materials discovery, robotics/UAVs, path planning, flight control, dynamic targeting, risk evaluation, quantum systems, biomedical applications, and financial systems. The candidate may also have opportunities to provide assistance in software development using Python, MATLAB, Visual C++, or LabVIEW.  Knowledge of quantum physics, biology, psychology, financing, statistics, machine learning, or control systems is desired.  Particular priority will be given to candidates with the following background:

  • Biochemistry or biomedical sciences: DNA sequencing/matching/alignment, protein folding, protein structure/function prediction, molecular dynamics simulation of proteins, biomarkers, quantum biosensors, drug discovery, etc.
  • Quantum signal processing: processing/fusing data from quantum and classical sensors, such as quantum RF/radar, ghost imaging, CT/X ray images, MRI images, EEG/MEG/MCG/MEG images, or others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·        Supporting staff engineers and other team members as needed

·        Scientific research in the general areas of quantum computing, machine learning, or autonomy

·        Application software development

·        Data generation and data analysis

·        Presentation preparation

·        Other duties as assigned to meet client expectations and requirements

 

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

·        Possess at least a junior status at a regular university.

·        Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or greater.

·        Programming experience such as MATLAB, Python, Visual C++, or LabVIEW.

·        Strong positive interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

·        Graduate courses in machine learning, computing or programming.

·        Knowledge of quantum mechanics, statistics, machine learning, or control systems.

·        Proficiency in Qiskit, QuTiP, Python, C++, or MATLAB.
