The UC Master Gardener Program is a public service and outreach statewide program, a part of the UC Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR). Across a network of 53 counties and 6,200 volunteers, the UC Master Gardener Program extends UC research-based information about horticulture, gardening, and pest management to the public. The program recruits, trains, and supports volunteers who work in tandem with their county-based UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) office to extend sustainable gardening information into their local communities and alongside community partnerships.

 

The Research Data Analyst, under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Impact & Communication, plays a pivotal role in driving the program impact data, impact communications, and research approaches within the UC Master Gardener Program. This position involves the collection, analysis, and interpretation of a broad spectrum of research and impact data related to horticulture, community gardening benefits, and volunteer impact.

 

The Research Data Analyst will be responsible for providing insights and developing strategic recommendations grounded on comprehensive research and data findings. The research aims to understand the impact of the UC Master Gardener Program through its gardening education and community development work. Research is conducted through surveys, interviews, literature review, and government data sources. Additionally, this position maintains the program's volunteer management database, including maintenance and quality control of the data inputs.

 

An important role in the statewide team, the Research Data Analyst collaborates with the program's horticulture training, volunteer engagement and communications team, UC ANR's program planning and evaluation team, academics, community partners, and volunteers. This position will be responsible for all reporting requirements, including preparation and submission of federal and UC ANR annual reports.

 

The ability to prepare clear, detailed reports inclusive of charts, tables, and other visual aids to communicate data and impact results as well as writing impact communications, is a critical aspect of this role. This multifaceted role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of the UC Master Gardener Program statewide. The working title for this position is 'Statewide Evaluation Coordinator'.

 

This position is a contract appointment that is 100% fixed and ends two years from date of hire with the possibility of extension if funding permits.

 

Pay Scale: $29.60/hour - $41.14/hour

 

This position will promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.
