Description
The College of Arts + Sciences Walter Center for Career Achievement team is currently seeking an undergraduate student to assist in career programming and coaching. Peer coaches are required to work 8-10 hours per week and are compensated at $12/hour. This position will begin on-campus at the start of the Spring 2024 semester, with continued employment into Fall 2024 and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
• Coach undergraduate students on career preparation-related topics such as resume writing, cover letter writing, job search strategies and interviewing preparation
• Partner with fellow peer and professional career coaches to operate Career Studio for drop-in career coaching
• Review resumes and cover letters submitted online through Handshake and the center’s website
• Conduct career-related presentations on a variety of topics to diverse groups of individuals and student organizations across campus
• Assist in outreach and planning specialized career programming for students
• Research and collaborate on projects for the Walter Center on a variety of topics, which may include: assessment phone calling, marketing, social media posting, data entry, employer relations, and alumni relations
Qualifications
We are seeking students who possess the following skills and qualifications:
• Strong communication (both written and oral), teamwork, and interpersonal skills
• Comfort presenting to small groups and meeting individually with others
• Interest and passion for helping others
• Reliability, Responsibility, Flexibility
• Freshmen-Sophomore level class standing (preferred)
• Certified major in the College of Arts + Sciences
