Patient Services Manager-Mobile Medical Unit

Purpose of Job The purpose of this classification is to plan, organize, and direct operational activities of Knox County Health Department mobile medical unit


Essential Functions The Patient Services Manager MMU is responsible for the following essential functions:

• Direct operational activities of the mobile medical unit; act as initial point of contact for program related issues; maintain and assure efficiency of services and productivity standards; develop and implement solutions to problems to improve operations and resolve complaints from patients, clients, or partner providers. 
• Supervise assigned employees and conduct performance evaluations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions; direct involvement in recruitment, interviewing, selection and hiring of new employees; conduct staff education, training, coaching and team building. 
• Conduct, supervise and participate in MMU activities before, during and after all field events.
• Always ensure readiness of MMU.  
• Familiar with all aspects of the unit and activities conducted through the unit.
• Prepares and presents a variety of reports and statistical information as required; performs Quality Improvement (QI) activities in various departmental areas.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other health department personnel as well as community providers and agencies.
• Attends and participates in management staff and other supervisory staff meetings; conducts clinic staff meetings on a regular basis.
• Handles employee concerns and problems as well as complaints from patients and /or clients.
• Participates in new employee orientation, nursing in-service and other related training as needed.
• Clearly understands and communicates departmental policy and program objective in a positive and supportive manner.
• Assures the confidentiality of all patients and records.
• Ensure patient care, staff relations and efficiency of service provided.
• May serve on various committees as needed.

Additional Job Functions • Will be required to operate the MMU at times
• Communicate departmental or program policy in a positive and supportive manner. 
• Assist with other programs as requested. 
• Ensure regular, punctual attendance for self and assigned staff. 
• Participate in after-hours work (after 16:30 Mon-Fri and/or weekends) as required.
• Respond to and report immediately if called upon by local, regional, or central office supervisors, as part of a coordinated emergency response by the Knox County Mayor’s Office
• Perform other duties as required

Minimum Training & Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in public health or related field
• Must possess and maintain a valid TN driver's license.
• Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered for employment into the position

Specialized Knowledge • Must be proficient in Windows OS and Microsoft Office
• Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Partner Services training
• HIV Core Curriculum: Screening/Diagnosis, HIV Prevention, Key Populations
• Tennessee Department of Health Training: PrEP 101, Pre/Post Test Counseling, Rapid Tests

Physical Requirements 
Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials.  Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for continuous physical activity.
