The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Budget and Business Operations (BBO) Unit is seeking a motivated and qualified individual to fill a Fiscal Analyst 2 position. This position is assigned to the Wildland Fire Management Division (Wildfire), located in our Natural Resource Building (NRB) in Olympia.
This position has primary responsibility for the revenue analysis, research, collections, data verification, and migration of the Forest Fire Protection Assessment (FFPA) and the Landowners Contingency Forest Fire Suppression Account (LCFFSA). Other duties include accounts payable functions. Under the direction of the Budget Analyst 4 (BA4), this position is vital in ensuring the agency successfully implements enterprise and agency-wide initiatives, which are required for agency integration into the statewide and agency finance systems.

Responsibilities:
- Interpret State Law and work with 34 counties and the general taxpayer to resolve issues.
- Work with County Treasurers to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of collection amounts and reports.
- Analyze the revenue collections from 34 counties and many other tax-exempt entities including state and federal agencies.
- Use independent judgment to determine eligibility and notify county assessors of changes to the tax rolls.
- Analyze annual Authorization, Certification, and Rate letters.
- Interpret region reviews to ensure the Wildland Fire Assessments are correctly applied to the county tax rolls.
- Reconcile fund balance transfers between the FFPA and LCFFSA accounts.
- Migrate data from access to the new FFPA application.
- Use new FFPA application to identify assessed exempt parcels without Direct Bills.
- Act as contact liaison between Wildfire Division staff and agency Finance staff.
- Process credit card invoices for payment.
- Process contract-related and miscellaneous invoices.
- Act as backup to FA3 and BA4, as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- An Associate degree in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or general business administration AND 1 year of experience in a financial field
OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. - Successful completion of 18 quarters / 12-semester credits in accounting (Additional education may substitute for accounting credits).
