Zero Emission Infrastructure Staff Air Pollution Specialist

This position can be located in Sacramento or Riverside County.

This position is Limited Term 12 months and may be extended up to 24 months or become Permanent in the future. 

The California Air Resources Board is shaping the future of transportation through regulations, funding programs and communications efforts. Geared toward zero emission technologies such as battery electric and hydrogen fuel cells, the future of transportation depends on the success of new fueling infrastructure. The CARB Zero Emission Infrastructure Team is growing to include a Staff Air Pollution Specialist focused on coordination with partner state agencies leading zero emission infrastructure programs. Under the supervision of CARB’s Zero Emission Infrastructure Specialist, this position will work closely with the signing agencies to the Zero Emission Infrastructure Joint Agency Statement of Intent including the California Energy Commission, California Public Utilities Commission, California Transportation Commission and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOBiz) to ensure regular communication, coordinate programs, facilitate joint stakeholder engagement, and cross-agency project reviews. This position will work at a highly independent level representing CARB and a variety of zero emission vehicle regulatory programs.

Working Conditions

 

The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense, as indicated on their duty statement.

  • Position located in a high-rise building
  • Requires being in a stationary position, consistent with office work, for extended periods. 
  • Standard office environment (for example, artificial lighting, controlled temperature, etc.) 
  • Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.
  • Additional working condition(s): Ability to travel to work meetings throughout the state, work in the office as needed for in person meetings with stakeholders and periodic team meetings.
