Wildlife Unit Biologist- Butte, Yuba, and Sutter Counties (Environmental Scientist)
Job Description and Duties
Would you like to work in California's beautiful northern Sacramento Valley and the surrounding foothills and mountains, as a CDFW Wildlife Unit Biologist? This position will be very active, performing a variety of environmental and biological studies, investigations, and land management tasks.
Incumbent will represent the Department as a primary point-of-contact while interfacing with the public, partners, agencies, and other entities on sensitive subject matters involving wildlife. Incumbent conducts complex environmental analysis, surveys, investigations, and monitoring of diverse species and habitats; writes final reports, and prepares regulatory and compliance documents. May collect specimens related to approved research and management. Duties will also include responding to depredation permit requests from the public for possible mortal take of specific wildlife.
This work may also include the capture, chemical immobilization, and handling of wildlife for study as well as potential hazing, relocation, and tracking via satellite telemetry. Incumbent will be the co-lead for the North Central Region (NCR) Private Lands Management (PLM) program properties, and coordinate and manage CDFW special hunts and run hunter check stations. Incumbent will also act as the lead for planning NCR Upland Game hunts.

Working Conditions
This position will be located in Butte, Yuba, and Sutter Counties, and occasionally involve working in other parts of the North Central Region or other parts of the state, as needed. The incumbent must be willing to work long, irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, and be able to spend multiple, consecutive nights in the field when working on field projects.
This position qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness Accrual Credit.
