The role: 

We’re looking for a Region 4 manager to join our Delivery & Operations Division leadership team! In this role, you will have overall authority for the planning, project selection and delivery, maintenance and operation of the state transportation facilities and buildings within the assigned area. Region 4 consists of over 380 employees, has its headquarters and Technical Resource Center in Bend, district maintenance and project offices in Bend, The Dalles and Klamath Falls and numerous maintenance stations throughout the region.

As a key leader within our division, you will have a strong voice in the strategic direction of the division and the ongoing development of more than 2,700 employees. You will work collaboratively with the Maintenance & Operations Branch, Engineering & Technical Services Branch, Statewide Project Delivery Branch and the four other regions to maintain, operate and improve Oregon’s multimodal transportation system. A day in the life:

  • Develop and implement actions to guide the strategic direction of the region.
  • Manage the region through subordinate managers by providing progressive leadership, clear direction, effective coaching, performance evaluations and feedback.
  • Establish and monitor the region’s annual budget, staffing, resourcing, work plans and performance measures.
  • Guide the region's management team in broad policy areas and direct staff in the areas of plan development, project design, technical support, construction, maintenance and operations.
  • Review and monitor maintenance and operations conditions, ongoing construction projects and connect with crews within the region through routine field visits and tours.
  • Represent the region on statewide teams and committees.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with other business lines, divisions and partners.
  • Assist in communication with legislators, agency officials, the media and other groups.
  • Serve as the agency spokesperson regarding the activities of the region on all phases of transportation work.
  • This position is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week including holidays.
  • Work in an office environment with hybrid work options available.
  • Considerable travel is required within the region and statewide in all types of weather, with some trips requiring overnight stays.

Minimum qualifications:

Seven years of management experience. 

OR

Four years of management experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.

Special qualifications:

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
