Research Program Coordinator

Job Summary
Are you a flexible, curious person who wants to use your communication and management skills to support an emerging research field on emotional well-being? We are looking for a Research Program Coordinator to support and help manage the Plasticity of Well-being Network, which is one of six NIH-funded research networks across the country dedicated to promoting science on emotional well-being.
In this role, you will help to develop and/or expand initiatives focused on community-engaged research and scholarship, supporting emerging scholars who attended our 2023 summer workshop, and running small grant competitions for pilot research projects. You will also have coordination responsibilities such as organizing and facilitating network meetings, monitoring the grant budget, drafting progress reports for NIH, and overseeing small grant competition review, award, and reporting processes. This role will involve coordinating communication between the external funding agency, internal grants management personnel, team members across multiple departments at UW-Madison and other academic institutions, and local community organizations. To be successful in this role, you will need to be comfortable creatively and compassionately working through problems with a variety of stakeholders, which often includes communicating the tradeoffs of different approaches to addressing a problem. Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the daily activities and contracts related to one or more research program(s)
- Assists in the development, coordination, and facilitation of trainings and workshops for internal and external audiences to disseminate research program developments and information
- Plans, develops, and implements processes and protocols to support research aims
- Serves as a unit liaison and subject matter expert among internal and external stakeholder groups, collaborate across disciplines and functional areas, provides program information, and promotes the accomplishments and developments of scholars and research initiatives
- Monitors program budget(s) and approves unit expenditures
- Develops policies, procedures, and institutional agreements on behalf of the program

Required:
- Interest in supporting research on emotional well-being
- Project management, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Communication and collaboration skills
Preferred:
- Experience collaborating and communicating with different functional units, groups, and/or stakeholders to develop initiatives and coordinate projects
- Experience with community-engaged research, community-based participatory research, community organizing, and/or community outreach, particularly with minoritized groups
- Experience coordinating day-to-day logistics of projects and meetings/conferences
- Experience or familiarity with grants management and contract oversight
- Experience or familiarity with managing budgets
Work Type:
Full or Part Time: 75% - 100%
The position will require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. Occasional evening and weekend work may also be required.

Salary:
Minimum: $58,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The typical starting salary for this position is $58,000 to $82,800, depending on qualifications and experience.
