Spring 2024 National Intern - SAFE Project
Thank you for your interest in interning with SAFE Project. SAFE interns gain experience working with program directors at a national nonprofit organization, as we work to Stop the Addiction Fatality Epidemic.
Through hands-on experiences, interns support our four key initiatives: SAFE Campuses, SAFE Communities, SAFE Veterans, and SAFE Workplaces. We are looking for a diverse range of life and professional experience, and encourage all students who are passionate about changing systems and saving lives to apply.
As a national organization, we accept interns remotely from across the US. We are now welcoming students to apply for the Spring term, which will start on Monday, January 22, 2024 and end on April 12, 2024. Please note that this is an unpaid internship opportunity. The application deadline is Monday, December 18th. Apply here.
We are hiring an intern specifically for our SAFE Choices portfolio. This initiative prioritizes the advancement of youth substance use prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery. Projects and tasks may include:
- Work collaboratively to inspire youth and young adults to be part of the solution in addressing stigma, mental health challenges and loss of life to substance overdose through the power of storytelling.
- Assist in the recruitment, mentoring and empowerment of youth to use their voices in overdose prevention messaging campaigns.
- Assist in the implementation of our SAFE Connections programming, an evidence-informed program for young people impacted by school-based disciplinary measures, enrolled in an alternative school setting, and/or entering the justice system. Interns will assist in locating youth probation departments, alternative schools, youth courts, and school based detention divisions and review communications plans and programmatic marketing.
- Gather case studies on the use of SAFE Project’s No Shame Education program and assist in data collection and follow-up.
- Work collaboratively with staff on behavioral health research and statistics in developing cases for support.
- Conduct research on laws related to naloxone.
- Assist in the identification of recovery high schools partnerships.
- Assist in communications, outreach, and marketing research for program campaigns.
- Conduct other administrative duties, as needed.
