Stormwater Standards Coordinator

The Department of Environmental Quality seeks a qualified applicant as a Standards and Specifications Coordinator for Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management. 

This position will:

  • Provide technical and regulatory assistance to Central and Regional Office staff, the general public, permittees, consultants, state and federal agencies, and private entities. 
  • Reviews Erosion and Sediment Control Plans, Stormwater Management Plans, and Construction Record Drawings.
  • Assist with the review of environmental assessments and environmental impact statements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental laws and regulations related to stormwater management and erosion and sediment control.
  • Knowledge of environmental engineering principles, environmental science, or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of program planning and project management.
  • Ability to work effectively with little direct supervision and to work well with diverse groups of people.
  • Strong ability to analyze and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to use PC software for word processing and data operation and management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • DEQ certification as an Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Plan Reviewer or can obtain within 12 months of employment in the position.

Additional Considerations

  • Knowledge of/or experience with Virginia Stormwater Management Program Regulation and Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Regulation.
  • Knowledge of/or experience in working with the land development industry.
