Advanced Development Intern

Job Description and Requirements

As an intern at Synopsys, you will gain hands-on experience while working alongside industry professionals. The Synopsys intern program integrates our interns into the culture with career opportunities upon graduation. This summer internship is full-time (40 hours/week) beginning May/June 2024 and will last three months.
 

This position is for the Advanced Development Team which partners with one of our leading customers towards Node enablement [N2, SF2, N3E] for leading foundries.
Node Enablement is one of the key pillars enabling our customers to deliver winning products in the marketplace. Your work will directly enable design teams to get to market faster with leadership products on cutting-edge technologies.

As part of the Advanced Development Team, you will get an opportunity to work with top-notch engineers solving challenging technical problems while enabling PDKs, customer libraries, power structures for most advanced process technologies for leading foundries. The job requires partnering and leveraging domain experts across various areas of Technology/Tool Development, foundry flow experts to enable Fusion compiler, which is Synopsys’s leading Implementation platform.
Responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Understand the technical specifications for Foundry advance technology features and flows to enable Fusion Compiler readiness for the new nodes.
  • Coordinate development and deployment of technology features/enhancements, develop QA plans to drive the test-cases meeting the key KPI targets by working with relevant stakeholders.
  • Drive innovation and initiatives to enhance existing automation, tools and methodology.
  • Engage with internal partners and customer to coordinate tool feature requirements and specifications.
  • Work with DTCO to evaluate and isolate performance contributors for technology features as part of enablement.
  • Identify and analyze problems, plans, tasks, and solutions.
  • Perform in a dynamic, challenging and sometimes ambiguous environment with drive and creativity.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • All interns must be currently enrolled in an accredited educational institution. Preferably seeking students pursing MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Scripting skills using a programming language such Python, TCL.

Preferred qualifications:
Any experience in the following areas:

  • Place& Route, Custom design flow and related EDA tools.
  • Semiconductor device physics, process technology and design rules.
  • Reliability verification, Physical verification, ESD concepts, standard cell library and memory architectures.
  • Filler insertion flows, Debugging Complex DRC rules
  • Knowledge and understanding of Secondary PG
  • Tools flows, and methodology for optimal Product Performance/Power/Area.

The base salary range across the U.S. for this role is between $24.00 to $48.05 per hour. In addition, this role may be eligible for an annual bonus, equity, and other discretionary bonuses.
