Public Health Nurse 1/2 (PCN 061520, $60,000 SHARP Incentive)

The successful candidate may be eligible for a $60,000 incentive award through the Alaska SHARP 3 program. If selected, the nurse will enter a contract with the State of Alaska, agreeing to live and work in Bethel for three years. SHARP nurses can choose quarterly student loan repayments or direct payments for the duration of the contract.
What you will be doing:
This Public Health Nurse 1 position serves exclusively as a trainee in a generalized public health nursing program to perform clinical duties as a Registered Nurse in support of a Public Health Center.
This Public Health Nurse 2 position is a journey level of the series and applies generalized knowledge of public health nursing competencies, principles, and procedures. Incumbents independently provide a broad range of services to individuals, families, communities, and systems with onsite support from a higher-level Public Health Nurse.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located in Bethel - a hub community in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region in southwest Alaska. Surrounded by the 20-million-acre Yukon Delta Wildlife Refuge (the second-largest wildlife refuge in the country), Bethel is located about 400 air miles west of Anchorage and is only accessible by air and river. Bethel is the 9th largest community in Alaska with over 6,000 residents. Bethel Public Health Nurses (PHNs) provide services to Bethel as well as 48-50 Alaska Native villages spread over an area roughly the size of Oregon.
The Section of Public Health Nursing may consider alternate work schedules for the successful applicant.
Minimum Qualifications:
PG03A1 – Public Health Nurse 1
Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska;
AND
Current acceptance and enrollment in a Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science (RN-to-BSN) bridge program from an accredited college or university.
PG03A2 – Public Health Nurse 2
Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska;
AND
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university or Direct Entry Master of Science (MSN) in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
Salary: $4.799.25-$5,131.50 Bi-Weekly; salary amount reflected in the posting is an approximate monthly amount.
