Site Assistant (Summer 2024)

About the National Student Leadership Conference:

The NSLC is a 9-day overnight conference providing talented high school students with hands-on academic experiences, opportunities to meet working professionals, and a safe and supportive environment for students to develop essential leadership skills. We are seeking individuals with relevant organizational and leadership experience to work with high school students and assist with site logistics and administration.

The Role:

Office Assistants (OAs) make NSLC programs possible by coordinating & supporting all the behind-the-scenes logistics on site. OAs arrive on-site 7 days before student arrival to participate in a mandatory training & to set up the site for student arrival. This training runs from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM daily. Following training, OAs will work for 9-day sessions with a 3-day break in between. OAs work very long days and are expected to be ready to assist students at any point during the program. OAs also assist with the closing of the site at the end of the summer.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete administrative tasks
  • Facilitate student arrivals & departures
  • Act as a liaison between the NSLC on-site office and the University & NSLC enrollment office
  • Direct email, phone, and in-person communication between parents, families, and students
  • Reside in the dormitory on the same floors as students, serving as a Resident Advisor

Qualifications:

  • OAs are generally current college students with a background and interest in organization, logistics, and office administration
  • NSLC has a primary focus on leadership development. Applicants should have leadership experience and/or training

Compensation:

OAs will be paid $900 at the end of each session. The NSLC pays for room & board, meals during sessions (most of which are eaten in the dining hall on campus), and transportation to and from the conference.
