
IT Enterprise and Data Analytics Intern

Note: This position is a full-time, limited term assignment.
The IT Enterprise and Data Analytics Intern performs project work and data/systems analysis related to their Information Technology focused field of study. This position will support agency operations with a primary focus on gaining practical work experience and business skills for personal development, or to satisfy educational requirements. The incumbent will proactively work with IT staff, fellow interns and other agency employees.
This position will start on June 5th and will end on August 9th of 2024.
Salary will be dependent upon education level:
Undergraduate (Senior) - $23.00/hour
Graduate Student - $25.00/hour
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Data/Systems Analysis
• Works with Data Engineers to standup a Data Governance platform.
• Works with the Data Steward to review enterprise data assets to define attributes and identify/classify critical data elements.
• Assists with building metadata repositories, business glossaries, data lineage, and training materials.
• Provides support to the Financial and Benefits groups while testing the Data warehouse load.
• Assists with enhancing existing data models.
• Researches, analyzes and develops:
• Enterprise Applications, Data, and Integrations Models
• Enterprise Business Capability and Technology Stack Models
• Enterprise Technology Strategy, Innovation, and Initiative Models
• Enterprise Business Process & Content Management Models
• Enterprise Identity, Access, and Security Models
• Assists with creating a dashboard on details of jobs running in Talend ETL Tool:
• Daily list of all jobs, start and end times, duration
• Statistics on data (rows read, rows written, rows rejected)
• Weekly/monthly failure summary associated with reasons (upstream data issue, processing issue, bugs, etc.)
• Assists with creating a production support document, documenting a collection of all failures that have occurred in the past and how they were resolved for any/all projects.
• Assists with building a front-end tool to input the data that is required to be input in the framework spreadsheet.
• Assists with gathering catalog input information from Data Warehouse.
• Help with data models as needed.
General Functions
• Assists with researching, compiling, and analyzing data; entering data into spreadsheets, databases, and other automated applications – and the creation/presentation of architectural visual models.
• Assists with reviewing, analyzing, organizing, and integrating agency information resources, and recommending changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Assists with completing special projects.
• Performs related work as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Required Education
• Currently enrolled in and actively attending an accredited college or university as an undergraduate student with a declared major in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Data Management, Data Governance, or other relevant program AND within 12 months of graduation; OR
• Currently enrolled as a graduate student (Master or Doctoral) in a Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Data Management, Data Governance, or other relevant program or other relevant program.
• Applicant will be required to submit a copy of official college transcripts.

Required Registration, Certification, Licensure
• None.
Preferred Qualifications
• GPA of 2.7 or higher.
• Experience with SQL.
• Experience with data management platforms, including ERStudio, and Talend.
• Experience working on similar projects to the ones described above.
• Letter(s) of recommendation from program professor(s) are strongly encouraged.
• Experience using Microsoft Office software.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
• General office practices and procedures.
• The principles, practices and techniques of Information Technology, Computer Systems Analysis, Information Security.
• Enterprise databases, including SqlServer, MySQL.
• Data warehouse, data governance, stewardship, PII, and PHI concepts.
Skills in:
• Organizing and prioritizing work to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment, and completing work accurately while meeting deadlines.
• Strong writing skills and translating technical concepts and system designs clearly and concisely.
• Demonstrated interest in technology and technical topics through coursework, activities, or experience.
• Conducting research and evaluation of large amounts of information, performing complex analysis of the data, and preparing concise and accurate reports, along with written/oral presentations and recommendations.
• Simplifying complex topics into easy-to-understand language. A large focus of the work involves articulating complex technical information into accessible business and operational concepts.
• Providing quality customer service.
• Using a personal computer in a Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) environment.
Ability to:
